Meet Carol Fiore

Carol lives in northern Colorado with her two teenaged daughters, two parrots, a duck, two dogs, a bearded dragon, and a corn snake. Carol has traveled and lived all over the world; she has lived in Colorado for 10 years.

Carol has three degrees and has taught students of all ages including the university level. She studied in the rainforests of Costa Rica and on the reefs in Belize while in graduate school. Prior to coming to Colorado, Carol worked as a bird zoo keeper and a zoo educator. She also worked as the Humane Educator at the Larimer Humane Society and in the wildlife department doing rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wild animals.

Carol is a long-distance runner, a licensed pilot, and a fan of musical theatre (especially her daughter’s frequent theatre performances). She loves to write and is currently working on a teen fiction trilogy. She is frequently published in "Grief Digest" and has finished a creative nonfiction book about her late husband. She maintains two scholarships in her husband’s memory and does volunteer work in her community.

Most recently Carol returned from 5 weeks in Australia and New Zealand where she studied birds and snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef.

Carol's favorite animal is an alpine parrot from New Zealand called a kea.
