Carol Fiore, M.S., M.E.S.,conducted
a 2 year study of domestic cats which revealed shocking trends.
The research project called "The Ecological Effects of Urban Domestic
Cats (Felis catus) on Birds in the City of Wichita, Kansas" was
conducted out of Wichita State University (WSU) as a thesis project in the Department
of Biological Sciences. The project was planned with the assistance
of ecologist Dr. Karen Brown Sullivan. Data collection started in
May 1998. The study involved the use of 41 cats and their owners, randomly
distributed inside the city limits of Wichita, Kansas.
